If you have stumbled upon this page, then you are probably experiencing an issue with your engines timing chain? Perhaps a nasty rattling noise when you first start up? Or maybe a constant engine light, accompanied by one of the following engine diagnostic trouble codes (DTC P0008, P0009 P0016, P0017, P0018 or P0019)
Unfortunately, this is a fairly common problem. The engines timing chain wears and becomes stretched beyond the allowable tolerance. The ECU detects a difference in signal between the camshaft and the crankshaft position sensors and brings the light on.
Eventually if not repaired the chain can wear so badly and becomes loose and skips teeth on the sprockets. This can seriously damage the engine.
When repairing this fault, it is important to do the job properly. We always insist on using genuine Holden revised timing chain kits. They come with all new gaskets, seals, chains, gears, tensioners, guides and even new bolts! It is important to take the time to make sure everything is fitted perfectly and torqued to spec to stop potential leaks or failure down the track.
